LaconiaFest concerts fail to attract crowds; Steven Tyler may change that

LACONIA — A concert series that will feature Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler on Wednesday night has yet to draw much of crowd despite its proximity to Motorcycle Week.

The audience for what was planned as a weeklong series of concerts featuring more than two dozen bands has barely reached 200 attenders for any one event in its first four days, according to the Laconia Daily Sun. In some cases, performances attracted only a handful, a disappointment when thousands were expected.

"It's been like this since it began," one member of the venue staff told the newspaper, waving a hand at the barren expanse of asphalt.

A similar event last year was cancelled before it began, but promoters this year worked hard to book recognized performers.

The tide could turn tonight, however, as Tyler, Bret Michaels and Ted Nugent are scheduled to perform over the next three nights.
