Laconia man arrested; crystal meth and cash seized by police

LACONIA - A Laconia man is under arrest after police say they found crystal meth and large sums of cash in his car and at his home at 19 Appleton St.

Peter Dauphin, 42, has been charged with possession of a narcotic drug with intent to distribute. Police say they stopped Dauphin at the corner of Sheridan and Appleton streets for a motor vehicle infraction late Saturday night and discovered the license plates were being used illegally.

During a search of the vehicle, they say they found a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and $2,000 in cash. Police applied for a warrant to search his home, where they say they found roughly seven ounces of methamphetamine and $11,000 in cash.

Police say the drugs that were seized have an estimated street value of more than $44,000. Dauphin was held at the Belknap County jail awaiting arraignment in Laconia District Court on Monday morning
