KKK robe up for auction in Dover

DOVER - Tuesday night is Scott Morrill's 10th annual "End the Year With a Bang" auction.

One of the items stirring up attention in the Dover auction is a 1920s Ku Klux Klan robe.

According to Foster's Daily Democrat, a Rochester woman found it in her attic, with her father's name written on the back.

The Ku Klux Klan had a brief stint in Rochester from about 1923 to 1925.

Rochester members even purchased a house on South Main Street, but it was torn down shortly after.

At its peak, there were 10,000 members from New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

The auction will be held Tuesday at the Dover Elks Hall on 282 Durham Rd in Dover at 6 p.m.

Early previews started at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
