Killington, Sunday River ski areas plan to open

The Associated Press

KILLINGTON, Vt. — With a cold blast of arctic air expected, the ski and snowboarding season is getting an early start in northern New England.

Vermont's Killington resort plans to be open to season pass holders and express card holders at noon on Sunday and to the public at 9 a.m. on Monday. In Maine, Sunday River also plans to open Monday.

A cold spell is allowing the resorts to make snow, which they plan to do through the weekend. Possible snow is also in the forecast in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine this weekend.
