Kennel club donates pet oxygen mask kits to Derry fire same week they rescue 3 cats

DERRY - A representative from the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club donated two pet oxygen mask kits to Derry fire officials Friday.

The donation comes the same week Derry fire officials resuscitated and saved three cats during a fire. After putting out the fire, crew members were able to rescue the cats - that were suffering from smoke inhalation - by giving them oxygen.

When Kennel club representative, Sheila Johannesen heard about the incident she decided to donate three Surgivet Pet Oxygen Masks Kits to Derry fire officials for future use.

Johannesen's ultimate goal is to provide every emergency response outlet in the state with a pet oxygen mask kit to help treat pets and animals in distress in case of emergency.
