Keene teen charged with making false report over sex assault allegation

KEENE - A local teenager has been charged with making a false report after police say they found inconsistencies in her story of being sexually assaulting by a male acquaintance.

Nakia MaCauley, 18, of South Lincoln Street, faces a misdemeanor charged of making a false report to law enforcement on Sept. 9 when Keene police were called to the emergency room of Cheshire Hospital for a report of a sexual assault. MaCauley identified a man as having assaulted her in that interview and in a subsequent interview.

But police, who launched and investigation said interviews with witnesses and the accused uncovered discrepancies in MaCauley's story. After a third interview with MaCauley, police sought a warrant for her arrest.

She was released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 8th Circuit Court of Keen on Dec. 7.

Police say the case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Keene police at 357-9820 and ask to speak to Det. Jen Ramey.
