Kayaker rescued from near-freezing water in Laconia

LACONIA - A man was rescued from the Winnipesauke River after his kayak capsized Tuesday afternoon.

According to an article on citizen.com, the Laconia Fire Department received a report of a man who had apparently capsized his kayak around 1:50 p.m. The water in the river was a brisk 34-degrees fahrenheit.

Laconia Fire Department Capt. Bob Landry stated to citizen.com "We train for incidents like this. It was easy for our first swimmer to reach the man, but the second one faced problems with his suit and we had to call for additional help."
