Judges uphold sex trafficking of minor conviction of ex-NH National Guard Commander

CONCORD — The conviction of Ray Valas, a former New Hampshire National Guard Commander, will be upheld.

Valas was found guilty in 2014 of soliciting sex from an underage girl, according to the Concord Monitor.

A panal of three judges went through all of Valas' claims, which included that the jurors had been given faulty instructions before beginning deliberations.

Valas was convicted of one count of sex trafficking of a minor and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, he paid for sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl twice during a work trip to Texas in 2013.

Valas admitted to meeting the girl, but said it was for an interview for research he was doing at Syracuse University.
