Judge won't drop police brutality case against former Seabrook officer
SEABROOK- A judge denied a motion to dismiss a criminal case against a former Seabrook police officer who's charged with assaulting a prisoner back in 2009.
The incident was caught on surveillance video. Former Seabrook officer Mark Richardson is seen pushing then 19-year-old Michael Bergeron into a wall.
A judge denied Richardson's request to dismiss the case based his claims his right to remain silent was violated by the state.
According to court documents, Richardson said he was ordered to participate in the town's internal affairs investigation and was told those statements would not be used against him.
The trial is set to begin Jan. 2.
