Judge: prior alleged sexual assault acts by former UNH student to be included in trial

DOVER - A judge will allow evidence from an alleged prior sexual assault by former University of New Hampshire student Kewei Chen to be presented to a jury.

Chen faces aggravated felonious assault charges after he allegedly assaulted a female student in his dorm room last fall. His attorney, Caroline Brown, has filed several motions to exclude prior bad acts allegedly committed by Chen, saying they would taint the jury's view of him. The state argued those alleged prior acts show motive to his crime.

The judge ruled there was enough evidence from these alleged acts and is allowing them to be included in the trial. The trial was supposed to start Sept. 29, 2014, but has gotten pushed back to later this month.
