Jeter in lineup for farewell game at Fenway Park

The Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) Derek Jeter is listed as the designated hitter and batting second for the New York Yankees when they play the Boston Red Sox in the final game of his 20-year career.

There had been some question if the 40-year-old shortstop would play Sunday after he seemed to tweak his hamstring running to first base the day before.

This will be Jeter's 153rd game at Fenway Park, breaking a tie with Lou Gehrig and Mickey Mantle for most among Yankees.

Jeter was given a rousing farewell at Yankee Stadium on Thursday. He sat out Friday night's series opener in Boston. The Yankee captain went 1 for 2 on Saturday, drawing standing ovations from the Fenway crowd as fans in the spirit of those at Yankee Stadium chanted "De-rek Je-ter! De-rek Je-ter!"
