Jeff Bauman takes the stand in Marathon Bombing trial

BOSTON - Well-known bombing survivor Jeff Bauman took the stand on day two of the Boston Marathon Bombing trial. Bauman has strong ties to the Granite State; his father and step-mother live in Concord, and Jeff worked at Costco in Nashua at the time of the bombing.

Bauman described in detail seeing Tamerlan Tsarnaev near him while watching the marathon. He said he noticed Tsarnaev wasn't acting happy or excited like everyone else. He described looking back and noticing Tsarnaev gone, but a backpack sitting on the ground and thought it was strange. Moments later, Bauman was thrown to the ground by the blast of the first explosion.

Bauman lost both of his legs and was hospitalized for a month, and went on to out-patient rehab up until a few months ago. While in the hospital, he was able to provide a detailed description of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The FBI credits Bauman's description in helping them identify him.
