Jaffrey to bring back town fireworks event

JAFFREY - A revamped summertime fireworks event is returning to Jaffrey after a 4-year hiatus.

Atlas PyroVision Productions will fill the sky over Silver Ranch Air Park with fireworks on Aug. 20, according to the town's Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber fundraiser, which draws in tens of thousands of people, was canceled in 2012 after a letter addressed to selectmen and officials threatened that multiple people would be killed at the event.

In 2014 and 2015 the event moved to the Cheshire Fairgrounds in North Swanzey as the new "Monadnock Festival of Fireworks."

Fireworks chairwoman, Caty Furze, said organizers are hoping to get nonprofit groups involved in help of executing the festival while also sharing its benefits.

Furze told the Keene Sentinel, that when the festival left Jaffrey “it took away a lot of summer activity in this area,” she said. “So we’re bringing it back. And we’re excited."
