JAFFREY - Police are investigating the shooting of cat which had to be euthanized as a result of its injuries.

Mittens, a 22-month-old cat, was shot May 15. Robyn Amandon told The Monadnock Ledger Mittens came home dragging its hindquarters and she feared the cat was attacked by a wild animal.

“We rushed him to the vets, thinking a large animal had picked him up and shaken him,” Amadon told the Monadnock Ledger. “We were shocked and saddened to learn that someone shot Mittens with a BB gun.”

Mittens was left paralyzed in the hind end and the shooting caused kidney injuries it would be unable to recover from.

Police currently do not have any leads, but suspect that a minor may be involved in the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Jaffrey Police Department at (603) 532-7865.
