Jaffrey man charged with DWI after 3-car crash on Route 202; several people injured

PETERBOROUGH - A Jaffrey man has been charged with drunken driving after a three-car crash on Route 202 on Saturday night.

Police say Leonard Gonthier, 54, was driving a GMC Jimmy heading east when he swerved into the westbound lane, sideswiping one vehicle and hitting a second head-on.

The vehicle he sideswiped, a Ford Explorer, rolled over, injuring two Rindge teens, driver Cameron Vetter, 19, and Karlee Daub, 18.

Also injured was Reed Leger, 32, of Merrimack, who was driving a Subaru Impreza when he was hit head-on.

The teenagers suffered only minor injuries and were treated and released from Monadnock Community Hospital last night. Leger was more seriously injured but also was treated and released.

Gonthier was air-lifted from the hospital to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police say he will be charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated but couldn't be processed due to his injuries.
