Is your Instagram picture hanging in a NYC art gallery, too?

Your Instagram photos could be worth $90,000, but probably not for you.

The controversial photographer and painter Richard Prince displayed 6-foot-tall prints of other people's Instagram photos in the Frieze Art Fair in New York this month, according to the Washington Post.

The collection is called "New Portraits," and the subjects are primarily women. The Instagram users had no clue they were going to appear in the gallery before the showing.

And yes, what Prince did is legal. He took out the original captions, and added his own bizarre comments, including “DVD workshops. Button down. I fit in one leg now. Will it work? Leap of faith."

Prince's portfolio has questionable photographs dating back the 1970s, when he would make minor changes to magazine pictures and re-photograph them.

Reactions online largely express one opinion: Prince is a thief, and a rip-off artist at best.
