Inmate who briefly escaped in Manchester arraigned, back behind bars

MANCHESTER - A man who tried to flee custody briefly on Thursday is back behind bars.

Fifty-year-old Kevin Gearhart is back in jail after escaping from the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in Manchester.

Police say he tried to enter a parked car at RST Automotive on Valley Street but was scared off by the owner. Gearhart then allegedly tried to steal a car parked at the pumps of prime gas while the owners was inside the store.

Gearhart was arraigned on escape and attempted theft charges. His bail has been set to $15,000.
