Inmate walks away from halfway house, arrested after car crash in Rochester


ROCHESTER - Early this morning, Rochester police responded to a single car crash on Innovation Drive. Upon arrival police found a car in a ditch but the driver had taken off on foot.

Police were able to locate the driver of the vehicle, 40 year-old Jason William Chapman, and learned he had failed to show up for head count at a halfway house last night. The car had also been reported stolen from Concord.

In addition to the escape, Chapman is charged with driving under the influence, conduct after an accident, operating after suspension, simple assault, resisting arrest and receiving stolen property.

Chapman will be arraigned via video today in Rochester.
