Injured hiker rescued from Crawford Notch after slipping


HARTS LOCATION — Rescuers carried an injured hiker at the base of Arethusa Falls in Crawford Notch State Park to safety Saturday afternoon.

Jennifer Butnym, 44, of Hudson, reported slipping and injuring her right ankle at about 12:30 p.m. while hiking with her family. The injury left her unable to walk, and she was taken to the Memorial Hospital in North Conway for evaluation and treatment.

New Hampshire Fish and Game, Bartlett Jackson Fire & EMS, Mountain Rescue Service and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department assisted in getting Butnym off the trail.
