Injured hiker carried down Mount Monadnock, transported to hospital

JAFFREY - A woman who slipped on a wet root while hiking Mount Monadnock was carried out to safety on Saturday afternoon.

Conservation officers with the N.H. Fish and Game Department said Denise Butler, 56, of Franklin Mass., was going down the White Cross Trail when she lost her footing and slipped, injuring her leg. Her hiking partner called for help.

Butler was carried down the trail by conservation officers, state park personnel and several volunteers then transported to Monadnock Community Hospital.

N.H. Fish and Game said the trails were slippery from the rain and urged hikers to "Hike Safe".
