Indie feature GOOD CLEAN FUN, w/ Alicia Minshew, to film on New Hampshire seacoast
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Portsmouth, New Hampshire – August 18, 2014
Look out New Hampshire Seacoast… “GOOD CLEAN FUN” is coming your way!
Sabrina Inc and GCF, LLC are proud to be producing the first full-length feature film to be shot entirely in New Hampshire’s Seacoast. The film, entitled "GOOD CLEAN FUN", is a comedy crime caper about a "good" wife who, upon discovering that her husband has been cheating on her, decides to learn the art of being "bad".
Produced by Sabrina Inc owner and Seacoast local Sabrina Velandry, the film is written and will be directed by Hollywood veteran Markus Redmond. Redmond, an actor and prolific screenwriter, has written feature film screenplays for Sony Pictures as well as independent studios. Redmond has also developed television pilot scripts for several major networks, including Showtime. Redmond will also write, direct and star in the indie romance feature, “Pacific Standard”, an homage to Woody Allen’s “Manhattan”. Woody Allen alum Erica Leerhsen, who currently stars in Allen’s “Magic In The Moonlight”, will appear opposite Redmond.
But before that happens, Redmond is bringing his signature brand of comedy and romance to the Seacoast of New Hampshire. Redmond himself will be in the Seacoast this coming week (Thursday, August 21st through Sunday, August 24th) for scouting, testing, meetings and events.
“If this film is half as much fun to shoot as it was to write, we’re in excellent shape. Everyone in the area has shown such wonderfully enthusiastic support for what we’re doing and the state is just gorgeous in the fall. I’m so grateful to Sabrina for introducing me to this beautiful, underutilized gem of a place to shoot in”, said Redmond.
Redmond and Velandry met working on the indie prison drama “K-11”, directed by Jules Stewart. Having a mutual love for film, it was only a matter of time before the two would team up on a film project of their own. “Markus’ portrayal of Precious in K-11 was really compelling, and I was familiar with his screenplays as well, so I was absolutely ecstatic when he handed me “Good Clean Fun” to produce,” explained Sabrina.
The film brings with it several prolific stars well known to daytime fans: Daytime Emmy award winner Jordi Vilasuso (Guiding Light, All My Children), Daytime Emmy award nominee and 30 year “All My Children” diva Jennifer Bassey and "One Life To Live" favorite Jessica Morris.
Headlining the film in the lead role of “good” girl Darcy Fisher is two-time Daytime Emmy award nominee Alicia Minshew, famous – or perhaps infamous – for her role as the scandalous Kendall Hart-Slater on “All My Children”. “I knew I wanted to be in one of Markus' (Redmond) films the minute I read one of his scripts. His writing was so easy and real, he’s a great storyteller. The character in (Good Clean Fun) is exactly something I have always wanted to play. A good girl gone bad!, says Minshew. “I also thought it would be refreshing to do a comedy. I have spent many years doing dramatic stuff so the lighter, fun script really appealed to me.”
Redmond will round out the cast in a role opposite Minshew.
The film is currently in development with filming slated for this fall and has garnered the support of both the Economic Development Program Manager for the City of Portsmouth and the New Hampshire Film & Television Commission.
“The producers have really made the effort to get out there and work with community partners prior to production, and that kind of relationship-building is a win-win for everyone involved in independent film,” says Matt Newton, director of the New Hampshire Film and Television Office. “They are excited to begin production and have this be a true ‘New Hampshire-made’ film, and we’re ready to help them make that happen.”
The filmmakers are actively seeking investors for the film. The film’s production budget is $550K. Velandry and Redmond have already procured digital distribution for “GOOD CLEAN FUN”, and an announcement with further details regarding this and the distribution company will be made in the next coming weeks. Several local businesses and residents have agreed to open their shops and homes as locations for the film.
