IN CUSTODY: Police nab man wanted for shooting 2 Manchester cops
MANCHESTER - The manhunt is over for a man who shot two police officers early this morning.
Sources confirm the gunman was taken into custody at 6:55 a.m. on Dubuque Street. Sources tell NH1 News said the man was reportedly wanted for a gas station robbery early Thursday morning.
Police Chief Nick Williard said the incident leading to the shootings started around 2 a.m. Friday. The first officer was shot in the area of Ferry and Second streets. Sources say one officer was shot in the neck and the other in the leg. Both are reportedly doing well.
A shelter in place order in the area of Wayne, Putnam, and Rimmons streets was lifted about 10:15 this morning.
Schools in the west end of Manchester as well as Granite State College's Manchester location were closed for the day because of the search.
One of the officers was taken to Catholic Medical Center and the other was taken to Elliot Hospital.
CMC also has said access is limited at its facility until further notice.
