Ikea is recalling dressers and chests that crush children

BOSTON — Over 27 million dressers and chests from Ikea are being recalled because they can tip over and crush children, according to CBS News.

Last summer, Ikea offered a free repair kit for the Malm chests and dressers, but after a 22-month-old child was killed earlier this year, the company is going in a "different direction."

"We are announcing this recall… given the recent tragic death of a third child," Ikea said in a statement. "It is clear that there are still unsecured products in customers’ homes, and we believe that taking further action is the right thing to do."

CBS News reported that the deaths of six children have been connected to this specific dresser and some people may say that the companies step may be a little too late.
