Identity of woman killed in Nashua fire released

NASHUA - A woman killed in an early morning fire Monday on Girouard Avenue has been identified.

Maria Barriga-Consoni, 37, of Nashua died of smoke inhalation, according to the state medical examiner's officer. The manner of death was determined to be accidental.

Several people - including some children - also were injured.
The home was built in the 1950s and had been converted to three apartments.

Property manager Richard Jean said the smoke detectors in the building had been updated. Building inspection records kept by the city of Nashua also show no problems with the building.

The cause of the fire has not yet been identified.

The state fire marshal's office, along with the Nashua Fire Department, continue to investigate.

Anyone with information can call Investigator Sean Plumer or Deputy Keith Rodenhiser at (603) 223-4289.
