Hunting season kicks off in NH

CONCORD - New Hampshire's muzzle loading season kicked off this past Saturday and regular firearm season begins November 11th. New Hampshire Fish and Game reminds Granite Staters hunting is a safe practice in the state, and there is no need to be alarmed if you see hunters in the woods.

Colonel Kevin Jordan said there are less than three incidents a year involving hunters - statistics that make many other outdoor activities much more dangerous than hunting but you can take steps to decrease your risk like wearing blaze orange.

Jordan also said the majority of hunters follow the rules, but you can help catch those who don't. If you see hunters after dark or shooting on a road, contact Fish and Game.

With 59,000 licensed hunters in the State, Jordan said hunting is a great boost to the economy.
