Hudson neighborhood rattled day after bank robber flees through streets
HUDSON - There were some tense moments for a Hudson neighborhood after a Massachusetts man robbed a Citizens Bank and fled on foot through the city’s streets.
26-year-old John Stocki of Lexington, Mass., was eventually arrested and arraigned in court on Wednesday.
Stocki allegedly threatened a teller and witnesses say took off with his pockets full of cash. Police from Hudson, Nashua and the FBI flooded the streets behind the bank in search of Stocki, who has a record of robbing banks.
“My neighbors were all outside and I didn’t see anything but I got a good picture,” said Lauren Ceder who lives in Fox Hollow where Stocki was arrested.
A picture is circulating the neighborhood of the moment when Stocki was arrested.
“I really didn’t think anything could happen in my neighborhood,” said Ceder reviewing the picture.
At Citizens Bank on Lowell Road was where Stocki was caught on surveillance threatening the teller to give him cash and the quiet neighborhood behind the bank became filled with police. A video given to NH1 News by a resident, captured the whole thing as it happened.
“I did bring my 8 year old in and I locked all the doors,” said Ceder.
“It is scary that something like that could happen especially with all the kids around, all the kids were out here playing,” said Sheena Dionne who also lives near where Stocki was arrested.
Stocki's criminal history is extensive and he knew it as he tried to bargain with the judge.
“If I was to umm plea guilty to all this right now is there any way, could I…,” said Stocki but he was asked to stop by the judge.
Stocki appeared desperate in court and was looking to make a deal.
“He ran in the front of our complex,” remembered Ceder.
“All we saw was someone coming out of the woods and we watched him well you know run against our decks basically,” said Susan Wilson who’s home faces the woods where Stocki emerged from.
Stocki is being held on $200,000 cash only pending a bail hearing with an attorney.
No date has been set for that hearing.
