LAKE WINNIPESAUKEE — A Hudson man is swimming the length of Lake Winnipesaukee in honor of McKenzie Lowe, who lost her battle to an inoperable brain tumor.

Patrick McDermot started his swim at about 4:30 a.m. on Monday, leaving from Center Harbor. The conclusion of the swim is expected to be around 5 p.m. in Alton Bay.

The swim is sponsored by Kendall Pond Pizza, which McDermot is the president of. All proceeds will go to the McKenzie Lowe Foundation.

Lowe was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, an inoperable brain tumor, in Nov. 2012 at the age of 13.

People can donate to the foundation by going to the Kendall Pond Pizza website.
