House Democrats' campaign arm has $57M banked

WASHINGTON (AP) House Democrats' uphill effort to oust Republicans from their majority raised almost $12 million last month and has close to $57 million saved.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said Monday that it raised $7 million in online donations during July -- a monthly record. In non-stop fundraising appeals, the committee warned donors that House Republicans were trying to impeach President Barack Obama. House Speaker John Boehner called the suggestion absurd.
House Republicans' campaign arm, meanwhile, reported raising $8 million in July and having more than $47 million in the bank.
The Democrats' House campaign panel has now outraised the GOP in 17 of the previous 19 months.
Both parties now are ready to spend that cash on mostly negative campaign ads.
