Hooksett firefighters mourning the loss of a beloved captain

HOOKSETT - Firefighters are mourning the loss of Capt. Daniel Pesula, who died Tuesday of cancer.

The passing of Pesula was announced Wednesday morning. Pesula joined the Hooksett Fire Department in 1997 and rose through the ranks to become captain of the central fire station.

"Captain Pesula has fought long and hard in his battle; he has shown us courage, strength and what it means to face the worst of evil head on," was the statement posted on the Captain Pesula Support Facebook page Wednesday. "Even the toughest of fighters need a break eventually. Captain Pesula passed away peacefully last night."

He is survived by his wife Beth and their two sons.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
