Holocaust memorial desecrated in Lynn

LYNN, Mass. - Police say they are investigating a possible hate crime after someone desecrated a Holocaust memorial in eastern Massachusetts with chunks of pork.
Police in Lynn received a report Tuesday night that five chunks of pork were left on the base of the memorial at the Pride of Lynn Jewish cemetery. Police responded and removed the meat.
Lynn police Lt. Rick Donnelly says the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
Jewish dietary laws prohibit eating pork.
Police say the woman who alerted police noticed the pork when she was visiting her mother-in-law's grave.
The managing officer of the cemetery says someone intended to desecrate sacred ground.
Members of the Jewish community are inviting people of all faiths to a peace rally at the memorial on Friday morning.
