Hollis man faces charges in custody case after leaving the state with his 2 kids

HOLLIS - A father is charged with absconding with his two children after a fight with his wife, police said.

According to police, Clifford Shaw, 49, of Federal Hill Road, was arguing with his wife July 1 and she agreed to leave for the night. The wife told police she returned the next morning to find Shaw and her two children gone. Police determined he had left the state and when contacted by phone, he initially refused to return the children and was uncooperative with any attempts to mediate the situation, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued for him, charging him with two counts of interference with custody. Shaw turned himself in and is being held on $5,000 bail, police said. He will next appear in court July 14.
