Hit-and-run accident in Maine may have injured boy from Goffstown
BETHEL, Maine - A teenage boy from New Hampshire is believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Maine that involved serious injuries.
WCSH-TV reports that police arrested 45-year-old Richard Marin of Bethel and charged him with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.
Investigators said Friday afternoon Marin hit a 14-year-old who was riding a bike on Church Street in Bethel. The victim was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center where he remains in critical condition Sunday. The boy was reportedly from Goffstown and a student at Gould Academy, a private boarding school in the town.
Sgt. Timothy Ontengco said multiple tips led police to a garage in Bethel where they found the vehicle witnesses had described.
Ontengco said tips led investigators to one vehicle, and the owner was able to provide more information that led them to Marin and his vehicle.
The vehicle has been impounded and Marin is being held at the Oxford County Jail.
His bail has been set at $10,000 cash.
