Hinsdale man sentenced in sexual assault in minors

KEENE - A Hinsdale man will likely be in prison for the rest of his life after being convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl over years and attempting to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl.

Richard Waite, 49, was found guilty of 10 charges of sexual assault and child pornography Friday in Cheshire County Superior Court, the Keene Sentinel reported.

Judge John C. Kissinger Jr. sentenced Waite to 45 years to life in prison.

"At the age of 49, it is my hope that this amount of a sentence will put you behind bars for the rest of your natural life," the judge told Waite.

Waite has maintained his innocence in the case.
