Hillsborough community mourns loss of couple killed in crash

HILLSBOROUGH- The Hillsborough community is mourning the loss of a married couple who were killed in a crash over the weekend. Jim Bouchard, 63, and his wife Janet Withington, 67 died following a crash on Route 9 in Antrim Saturday evening.

Neighbors describe them as an extraordinary couple who were always ready to help anyone in need.

N.H. State Rep Gilman Shattuck, D-Hillsborough lives down the street from Bouchard and Withington and says Bouchard was the first to help rake leaves or snow blow people's driveways.

"That's just simply typical of the many things that he did for all of us and for the community and in her way, that she did she was a nurse," Shattuck said.

Liam Flaherty, 18 of Farmington, N.Y. lost control of his vehicle and crashed into Bouchard and Withington head-on, he was not injured. Police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
