LACONIA - Hillary Clinton held two events in New Hampshire on Thursday, including a heroin forum in Laconia.
The forum's goal was to brainstorm ways to get the drug crisis under control.
But there was another crisis brewing at Laconia Boys and Girls Club, one that had parents angry and some kids in tears.
8-year-old Landon, left the Boys and Girls Club disappointed and empty handed.
He was told he was going to meet Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton right after her heroin forum.
That didn’t happen.
"When I heard it, I was kind of angry and mad at the same time," Landon said. "And I kind of felt a little bit sad because I was looking forward to it for all day today."
It was also sad and surprising his dad, Michael Bormes, said, considering Hillary's latest TV spot.
"I think it’s unacceptable," he said. "You want to be the president of the United States, it starts with the youth. You couldn’t even live up to a promise that was made or told to these kids?"
We asked Traci Tucker from the Boys & Girls Club - What happened to Hillary?
It just didn’t happen," she said. "She ran out of time. There were tears, they were really looking forward to it. There were a bunch of kids that had decorated her little bathroom.”
Decorated her bathroom? This we had to see.
As we searched the club’s ground floor, we ran into a man identified by Tucker as someone from the Clinton camp.
He wouldn’t answer our questions.
But he couldn’t stop us from finding this.
What we’ve been able to learn is that there were 30 to 35 children ranging in age from 5 to 13 who were anxiously waiting to meet Hillary Clinton.
In fact, they were writing her letters, drawing her pictures, even coming up with questions to ask her. And then on top of that, look at how cute this is - they even decorated her bathroom.
You can see Hillary Clinton and with a star - very Hollywood like. You can see the welcome signs, the Happy Halloween signs - all just for her.
"It was a life lesson, I guess," Tucker said. "That sometimes you look forward to things and they just don’t work out. You might work hard to make sure you’re ready for it, and the other part might not come through. And that’s just it’s a bummer of a lesson to learn especially at this age, but it gave us a little something to talk about."
Not a consolation prize young Landon can take to school tomorrow.
"Mostly what I wanted to do was maybe, um, like maybe for her to write her name on a piece of paper for me to show everybody," Landon said. "That I actually met her."
Clinton campaign officials told NH1 News that they're going to try to meet with the kids next time they're in Laconia.
