Hiker rescued after falling 30 feet in Rumney

RUMNEY - A woman is recovering after a 30-foot fall from Jimmy Cliffs at the Rumney Rocks climbing area on Saturday.

Sophie Conner 20 years old from Dartmouth College in Hanover was rock climbing with friends when she slipped and fell approximately 30 feet.

The fall resulted in a lower leg and ankle injury and she was unable to walk or bear weight.

Rescuers from Rumney Fire, Warren Wentworth EMS and New Hampshire Fish and Game responded. In addition, 10 climbers in the area volunteered to assist in the carry-out.

Conner was transported by Warren Wentworth ambulance to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth for evaluation and treatment.
