Henniker to hold vote for garage and equipment money
HENNIKER - A fire at the town garage back in January wiped out the towns fleet of snow plows and other equipment.
On Saturday, the town will hold a vote to decide whether or not to raise and appropriate funds to build a new garage and stock it with new equipment.
The proposed cost of rebuilding the garage and buying new equipment is $1.2 million. That would cover the cost of building the new garage as well as purchasing road maintenence equipment, trucks, plows, wings, communications equipment and a road grader.
The fire in January broke out in a truck inside the garage. The fire quickly spread and destroyed the entire fleet. Multiple towns and various agencies stepped in to provide plows and trucks and to help Henniker plow their streets with more storms on the way.
