Head of Sweet Paws Spa in Ossipee facing 21 animal cruelty charges for 'indescribable' kennel conditions


OSSIPEE - An arrest has been made in the investigation into Sweet Paws Pet Spa and Sweet Tails Animal Rescue.

The Ossipee Police Department has arrested Laurinda Miller, 51 of Ossipee, has been charged with 21 counts animal cruelty after the foul conditions animals were kept in were discovered.

Miller was the head of Sweet Paws Pet Spa and Sweet Tails Animal Rescue.

More than 60 pets were seized from the shelter last month.

The Lakes Region Humane Society still has custody of many of the animals.

Miller is scheduled to appear in court on Sept 2. She is not permitted to have any animals while on bail.

A home phone number couldn't be found for Miller and it wasn't immediately known if she had a lawyer.
