MANCHESTER - Police responded to an Elm Street store where a man wielding a hatchet held up a cashier for two scratch tickets, including a winning one he cashed at another store down the street.
Police were called to the Queen City Market located at 31 Elm St., after reports of a store robbery Monday morning. Employees said the suspect entered the store waiving a hatchet at the cashier and demanded cash. The suspect then reached over the counter, grabbed the scratch tickets and fled the area on foot with just the tickets and no cash, police said.
Owners of the Queen City Market said that they believe the suspect cashed in one of the scratch tickets for $160 at another convenience store nearby.
The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black and white stripped Adidas jacket and a ski mask.
