Hassan to tout value of higher education in program kickoff

The Associated Press

CONCORD (AP) — Gov. Maggie Hassan is encouraging New Hampshire high schoolers to consider getting a college education.

Hassan is slated to speak Monday morning at the "I Am College Bound" kickoff at Pembroke Academy. The program is run by the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation.

The initiative focuses on high schoolers who would be the first in their family to go to college and those who might not be considering higher education. Fourteen high schools participated in 2015.

Hassan will talk about how college can help students develop skills and critical thinking needed for success.
