Hassan: NH health care program has 35,000 enrollees
CONCORD - Governor Hassan says that the New Hampshire Health Protection Program, the state's expanded Medicaid program, has over 35,000 enrollees.
The program, championed by Hassan, will run out of funding unless the legislature includes in the next 2-year budget.
In a statement, the Governor says "As more and more states across the nation are moving forward with health care expansion, states without it will see higher costs and find it harder to compete. My fiscally responsible budget proposal provides for the reauthorization of our expansion plan and includes the funds needed to cover New Hampshire's share in the next biennium."
Republicans, who oppose the program, have suggested that they do not intend to extend its funding.
