Hampton man pleads guilty to smuggling guns to Thailand


HAMPTON – Matthew Crisafi, 38, will serve 14 months on home confinement after pleading guilty to one count of smuggling goods into the U.S.

Crisafi is accused of illegally trafficking firearms to Thailand and illegally selling firearms.

As part of Crisafi’s plea deal, prosecutors dropped charges of selling firearms without a license and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

However, Crisafi will not be allowed to leave his residence unless for work or community service. In addition, his computer will be monitored and he will be required to attend mental health treatment.

Crisafi will be on probation for five years.
