Hampton man arrested after police say he strangled victim

HAMPTON — A Hampton man was arrested after strangling a victim.

Keith Sparks, 39, was arrested without incident on Friday at about 1 a.m. He was charged with second degree assault, domestic violence and criminal mischief.

The domestic violence charges stem from incidents of unprivileged physical contact with the victim, police said. The criminal mischief charge stemmed from Sparks damaging the interior of a vehicle that did not belong to him.

Sparks was released on $1,000 cash bail and $2,500 personal recognizance bail. A probable cause hearing is schedule for Oct. 25.
