Hampton fire chief put on paid administrative leave

HAMPTON - Town officials are keeping quiet in Hampton after Fire Chief Chris Silver was allegedly put on paid administrative leave.

Captain John Stevens told NH1 Deputy Chief Jameson Ayotte will be acting as Chief in Chief Silver's absence, but he did not state a reasoning for the leave. Town officials are keeping quiet about the subject, but some think that's a good thing.

"I think it's a practice of the selectmen to keep everything quiet until everything's resolved and that's not a bad thing. It protects the integrity of the individual," said Senator Nancy Stiles (R-Hampton).

Chief Silver has been with the Hampton Fire Department for nearly 20 years.
