Halftime report: Patriots lead Texans 10-0, Brissett scores rushing TD
FOXBOROUGH - The New England Patriots are off to a strong start during Week 3, leading the Houston Texans 10-0 at halftime.
The Patriots' only touchdown was scored by rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who ran the ball 27-yards into the end zone.
Brissett was the team's third-string QB, who found himself leading the Patriots' offense half way through last Sunday's game against Miami.
Jimmy Garoppolo was filling in for Tom Brady until then, but took a tackle from a Dolphins' linebacker that left him with a sprain in his shoulder. Garoppolo was listed as inactive for Thursday night's game.
However, one critical player who had yet to see the field this regular season was moved off that inactive list.
Rob Gronkowski suited up and took the field at Gillette, but the tight end played very few snaps in the first half.
During the team's first scoring opportunity, Brissett looked for Gronk in the end zone, but overthrew the ball leaving Stephen Gostkowski to put the first points of the game on the board.
