ROCHESTER — The gun and ammunition shop damaged in Sunday's 6-alarm fire is the same one giving away free guns as part of a partnership with a local car dealership.
Renaissance Firearms was one of at least three buildings damage in a fire that took almost 100 firefighters to get under control.
In a partnership with Hagan's Motor Pool, buyers would get a free AR-15s and 9mm guns with the purchase of certain cars.
Dealership owner Mike Hagan said the promotion has been popular with customers, but there has some backlash on social media from people outside New Hampshire - even more so after the mass shooting in Orlando.
Those who bought certain vehicles received either a free Del-Ton DT Sport Light AR-15 or a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9 mm.
In a Facebook post, Renaissance said their guns and ammo were dry and that the store faced "minimal" damage.
Officials say the fire started between a restaurant and an apartment building.
Anyone who was inside the buildings was able to make it out safely. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
