Great American Smokeout observed across America
It's a day dedicated to urging people to kick the habit. Monday is the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout, which is observed every year, on the third Thursday of November.
Smokers across the nation take part. Many choose the day the stop smoking or make a plan to quit.
Meanwhile in Westminster, Massachusetts, the town has dropped a proposal to be the first in the nation to ban all tobacco sales. Last week a hearing on the issue had to be cut short after some rowdy residents voiced their opposition.
