Granite Staters could lose their food stamp benefits if government shuts down

As many as 45 million Americans will lose their food stamp benefits if the government shuts down next week as threatened.

It's tied to some Republicans in Congress who are threatening to force a government shutdown unless there's a vote to defund Planned Parenthood in a budget deal.

Unlike the 2013 shutdown, when cash reserves allowed the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits to be disbursed as normal, the USDA says this time it won't have the funding and will be forced to stop providing SNAP benefits within the first several days of October.

More than 103,500 Granite Staters rely on SNAP benefits to feed themselves and their children.
