Grand jury indicts Farmington man in domestic violence case
DOVER - A grand jury has indicted a Farmington man accused of burning his girlfriend, choking her with a rifle and threatening to kill her.
According to Fosters Daily Democrat, Douglas Staples, 28, of 53 Union St., was indicted on four counts of second-degree assault and two counts of criminal threatening based on events in 2012 and 2013.
Staples allegedly set the woman on fire, resulting in first- and second-degree burns to her chest, abdomen, arms and hands. He also allegedly held a rifle across her throat, cutting off her airway, and threatened to kill himself and her.
Staples is scheduled to appear in Strafford County Superior Court on Jan. 7.
