Gorham man accused of violent shooting death in April to enter plea Wednesday

LANCASTER (AP) — A plea and sentencing hearing has been scheduled for a Gorham man charged with gunning down a man near the town common in April.
The hearing was scheduled for 25-year-old Christopher Drouin on Wednesday morning in Coos County Superior Court in Lancaster.
The shooting happened near the police station. New officers were being sworn in when the shots were heard. Police found 27-year-old Michael Welch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died before getting to a hospital.
Drouin was charged with second-degree murder and with attempted murder for shooting at another man with Welch, 30-year-old John Gillespie.
